Snapshot Sessions: Western Name Authority

Anna Neatrour, University of Utah Marriott Library

The Western Name Authority File (WNAF) project was funded by an IMLS grant to pilot a system for developing a regional authority file for personal names and corporate bodies from digital collection metadata. As we near the end of the two year grant, we will provide information on the data model, metadata wrangling steps, and emerging workflows and platforms being developed to make the WNAF openly available as JSON-LD.

Anna Neatrour is the digital initiatives librarian at the University of Utah Marriott Library, where she manages descriptive metadata workflows, the digital exhibits program, and supports emerging technology projects. Anna was previously a metadata librarian at the Mountain West Digital Library, executive director of the Utah Library Association, and she began her career in libraries as an instruction librarian. Her interests include name authority control in digital libraries, collaborative digitization, and metadata community support.
